ooVoo and TokBox

ooVooCommunication is the wave of today’s web, hence all the blogs, CMS applications, IM applications, aggregators, social networks… and this site. So, what better way to communicate than face-to-face? Err… Face-to -monitor-to-monitor-to-face, for that matter. ooVoo is an online application built for the personable persons that want that warmer feeling of interacting with someone directly, and being able to read their blank stares… and watch when their ignoring you… In fact, its someone like using Yahoo! MSN or AIM for Webcamming, but uh… there’s a few value adds:

  • Stare at up to 6 people at a time!
  • Video Messaging for those too lazy to type
  • Video Conference -with- Chat
• Spread your contacts to others via the sharing options
  • Widget-able for MySpace and blogs
  • File sharing
  • Favorite bar widget

The VTC is pretty awesome, and virtually the only selling point because 6 talking heads in one spot all collaborating is awesome. Everything else is pretty much available elsewhere on sites you may have heard of, YouTube/Google for example.

TokBox

For those of you who are so addicted to Facebook apps that you can’t get away from your fun Zombie fighting fun and Superwall posting long enough to sign into an IM application… There’s TokBox. TokBox is a great way to share your face with friends while you chat without the need of a pesky IM application cluttering up your taskbar/doc menu… things. So consider the options. These are popping up all over the place. My vote sits with ooVoo, but TokBox is also worthy. I’m sure there will be others to note later… So until then…
