TweeterGetter
Ok, let’s pretend for a moment that I know what a Social Network is, and how Social Media can be great for business.
Step 1 – Build a network of people. You can do this by meeting people at a party, throwing a party, sharing thoughts or ideas online, engaging in conversation… aka: being social. Step 2 – Repeat. Step 3 – Go to Step 2… and so on.
Now, building a social network takes time and energy, but every person-connection made is a valuable one when made through the right means, and when interacted with accordingly.
When mixing Social Networks with Brands, either personal or professional, the same rules apply. Meaningful communication is a two way street in a social network. Twitter is definitely no exception.
Which brings me to this completely bullshit service called “TweeterGetter“. Here, I’ll summarize their promise: “Get more followers, because the # of followers is all that matters”. Yea, brilliant. It appears that this site works like this – A pyramid scheme to get more followers. That’s quality.
I’m not gonna knock the smarts that created this chain letter spam-fashion tool to increase “the numbers”; because the idea really is nice. In fact, if used right – say, you interact genuinely with everyone who magically starts to follow you? Awesome. But let’s be real. That’s not what this tool is about. It’s about growing a network, not a social network, and in a social network that’s only a 50%, which is an F, for FAIL.
