Posty

postyFrom sitting and staring to flat out going post-it mad with contribution goodness, Posty is an AIR app designed by SpreadingFunkyness to allow you to post to not one but four microblogging services, seperately.

Awesome, right?

The important thing here to address is how much better Posty handles FriendFeed than Twhirl. I’m not sure how many of you actually use Twhirl for FriendFeed interaction, but the fact that the scroll wheel on my mouse is utterly useless with the application, I use Twhirl solely for Twitter, and switched to iGoogle for FriendFeed interaction. So there’s a win.

Here are the other wins:

  1. Twitter, Identi.ca, Jaiku? check
  2. Tumblr & FriendFeed? check
  3. One tab to see all your services (minus Tumblr follows, I’ll get to that), and you can customize what you see
  4. Super pretty themes
  5. Small footprint
  6. Super (SUPER) simple interaction
  7. Very clean presentation of data streams (</redundant>)
  8. System fonts support (use whatever font you want </poet>)

Here are the fails:

  1. I can only see my posts in Tumblr. [This isn't Posty's fault (as noted in the comments); Tumblr, you suck. Get your act together]
  2. You can only add one Twitter account, and long ago I seperated my @nrek from the @sociosophy Twitter accounts.
  3. Notification window – Fail
  4. Notification sound for @repies only? – Fail

Ok, no app is perfect, but if the developers of Posty downloaded Twhirl, kept their UI pretty much the exact same, but pulled some ideas and features from Twhirl, and tossed in Tumblr timeline posts after Tumblr opens up their API to allow this? It would literally kill anything else out there.

Hell, toss in Groups and Customizable tabs as a resource hog bonus and beat up on Tweetdeck while you’re at it.

Fails will be taken into account during the development of the next version of Posty.
The only thing we cannot provide is the browsing of the tumblrs you are following, because
tumblr api does not provide that API at the moment.
  • Tumblr fail :(

I'll update the post. Love the app so far. Let me know when you address the fails ;) We'll re-review it.
