MatterMeter

mattermeter“If ___ no longer existed, would it matter?” – what a great, philisophical question. MatterMeter asks its users to justify why on earth they feel or think why what they like is significant. Though it seems like a harmless question, this gets into the beliefs structure of people and their purchases.

It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed a site that actually has sociological and philisophical roots dug into its foundation, so I’m a little extactic about stumbling across this site. MatterMeter has more depth than “What are you doing?” and a hell of a lot more substance than just “How are you feeling?”. If you get into the site, and post what you really feel should or shouldn’t exist – chances are you’re challenging your beliefs!

Crazy. (more…)

Posty

postyFrom sitting and staring to flat out going post-it mad with contribution goodness, Posty is an AIR app designed by SpreadingFunkyness to allow you to post to not one but four microblogging services, seperately.

Awesome, right?

The important thing here to address is how much better Posty handles FriendFeed than Twhirl. I’m not sure how many of you actually use Twhirl for FriendFeed interaction, but the fact that the scroll wheel on my mouse is utterly useless with the application, I use Twhirl solely for Twitter, and switched to iGoogle for FriendFeed interaction. So there’s a win. (more…)

Sideline – Yahoo!

sidelineI told you Adobe AIR was secretly taking over the Internet (here), did you believe me? Well, you shouldn’t. But there are some neato paskeeto apps available for AIR. Yes, paskeeto is a word. Yahoo! recently released a Twitter app (you read that right) called Sideline, and I can’t believe they trademarked it.

Sideline is a simple interface, it doesn’t ask for your credentials, nor allow you to interact with Twitter in terms of contribution or your specific timeline. What does it do? It’s a desktop based search client. Is it innovative and so remarkable that you can’t live without it? Not even a little, I still think it has its purposes though.

Tweetdeck, AlertThingy, and my personal favorite, Twhirl – all have a search feature. Heck, Tweetdeck’s massive footprint is designed specifically for grouped search queries both terms and users alike (and taking up massive amounts of system resources, but hey!). So Sideline, what’s it good for? (more…)

Trigga.me

triggameJust when you thought Ping.fm, HelloTxt and god knows whatever other “multi-site” updater applications were out there were enough for you to dabble and annoy your followers with, along comes Trigga.me, yet another avenue to update to multiple services at once! But… this one comes with Groups.

[insert "ooo's" and "aaah's" here]

I’m not all that impressed, just yet. The number of services is limited, the interface for selecting a service is a drop down box – which tells me there won’t be more than 12 services listed regardless, and if there are, I already hate it. Sorry UX people,  drop down boxes that aren’t loaded with states shouldn’t really have more than a dozen options… Got to think of a better way to handle that situation.

Pingvine

pingvineHere’s something… If you don’t use FriendFeed but want to syndicate your Internet sharing escapades to Twitter, Ping.fm or Identi.ca, Pingvine is your tool of choice. The site is very simple:

Input your account info for whatever site (Twitter, Ping, Identi); Plop the RSS feed URL of the site you’re feeding to’m; Choose how often (or not) you want it to update; Voila!

There’s really not much more to write on this application, other than it was made possible by the folks at DevFarm.com (twitter).
