NIN/JA 2009

nin_ja-2009Want to know what I’m doing right now? At this very moment?

I’m downloading newly released music from Nine Inch Nails, Janes Addiction and Street Sweaper… For Free… Legally. Trent Reznor is going to change the face of the music industry if it’s the last thing he does, I tell ya. This morning, about 30 minutes ago, actually, Trent Reznor on Twitter announced the launch of NIN/JA 2009, a site dedicated to their 2009 tour, featuring a “tour sampler” collection of music from the bands.

Radsauce. (more…)

Gift Girl

Gift buying is a time to test your skills at getting the perfect thing or things for a someone that you consider gift-worthy. Personally? I’m horrible at gifting accurately, and normally go for off-beat things people have never heard of, in an attempt of broadening their horizons on things they never dreamed existed, let alone thought they wanted until they have it. In other words, I don’t even try to find something they want, I choose things I think are interesting enough for them to appreciate. So what to do when someone like me needs to buy something for a special someone and wants it to be what they want? Gift Girl, that’s what.

Gift Girl is a site created by fashion consultant, Jean Vouté Pratt. The site’s premise is simple:

  1. Choose the occasion
  2. Choose the type of Girl your shopping for

Through the wonders of Internet magic, gift suggestions pop up on the screen, and you’re off to a head start that would have taken you years of researching and watching “What Not to Wear” on TLC. Turning this into a truly life-saving application for gift shoppers.

We took a few minutes to ask Jean Vouté Pratt a few questions about Gift Girl – here’s how that went: (more…)

Sites That Sorta Work

Let’s say for the sake of saying you run a small time blog and you’d wish nothing more than to get a few dozen subcribers to show your efforts are accounted for, and motivation to continue forward was justified. Let’s also say that after a year of writing you’ve gathered under 10 subscribers and comments just aren’t there, neither is traffic. What do you do? Perhaps you set your sights on sites:

  1. Digg
  2. Reddit
  3. StumbleUpon
  4. FriendFeed
  5. SocialThing
  6. Twitter
  7. Technorati
  8. Jaiku

These are nice and strong, in fact, a lot of the great sites you visit are probably found on these sites, not such a bad idea! or is it? (more…)

New iGoogle

So, I’m writing this post on “Most Excellent Firefox Plug-ins EVER!” and I go to send it off to be proof read, open my browser, and to my surprise? A new iGoogle layout, and it’s MUCH better.

First, the left hand navigation doo-dad. All of your widgets are presented in a neat, tidy menu for you to enjoy, and interact with. Our first notice was GMAIL, which is now a totally sweet, and integrated piece of iGoogle when you select it. So no more being thrown off your iGoogle page when you’re going to GMAIL. (more…)
