Social Follow

socialfollowSocial following, in its definition according to socialfollow.com, kind of sounds like social stalking…but it’s actually pretty cool.  If you have a plethora of social accounts, as most folks these days do, you can add a “Follow Me” button to a website, blog or social site that allows easy access to your other accounts, such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and YouTube.  From a work perspective, it’s a good way to get your business some play.  From a personal standpoint, it pretty much eliminates the search button.  If you’re connected on one account, you can get connected on any account.  Time-saving is a pretty sweet thing.  As of June, Social Follow has also implemented the option of a Social Follow Profile, a name-unique URL you can attach to every Social Follow button you have.  These profiles are pretty much like all the other ones you already have, housing your info, Twitter and blog updates.  A little on the unneccessary side, but what’s one more, right?

Hobnox

hobnoxGermany-based Hobnox is a niche-market social network site that includes some incrediby unique features that I’ve never seen before, and honestly, I’m glad I hadn’t until I saw them here. Hobnox is a music, film & culture centric site, it’s members should at least be interested in, or want to take part in any one of those things.

One of the cornerstone features of the site is the Audiotool. If you’ve ever worked with an 808 or digital sequencer, you NEED TO TRY THIS. It’s absolutely remarkable. In fact, it’s like having the instruments right on your desk, only on a screen instead of sitting around collecting dust.

Audiotool

Hobnox even went as far as to allow you to customize your set up with modular effects boxes, plugging in and reorganizing your cabling setup, and every single effect, switch, knob, leveler, control lever… works. It’s insanely well done. They need an award for just that portion of their site alone, seriously. (more…)

My Name is E

mynameiseAmazing what a little mobile compliance will do to a seemingly simple service. My Name is E is an online “this is what I log into” business card creator, of sorts. The site itself is built pretty slick, giving you a bunch of great options and services to select.

You can upload a custom background image, create multiple cards, make one “public” (the one that’s attached to your username in the URL), and the real fun happens when you launch their mobile or iPhone version.

Clipta

cliptaVideo, it’s the wave of the Internet’s future, or rather, a huge part in it. Outside of torrents, blogs, news and porn, the Internet is good for two things, Twitter and video. So to have an aggregating video search engine at your fingertips seems like a pretty useul thing to have, if you’re not trying to compete with “The Google”, anyhow.

Clipta is a video-centric search engine that looks everyone media to find results you want. Their interface might as well have just used the same CSS file from YouTube for their player page, but the search is pretty good, I was able to track down the Numa Numa guy doing the new Geiko-powered… whatever song that is in the commercials with the creepy money guy… and play it right on the site. nomee

nomeeOk, how much do you love Social Media? Anyone?… Anyone?

Chances are if you’re reading this blog, you love Social Media as much as the guy (me) that’s writing it. In fact, nomee tells me I have an account on pretty much every single one of the 101 social networks and applications they monitor. WHAT?! 101!!?!?

Yes. 101.

Let’s be fair though, that’s only because I sign up for every site I review. Seriously. Unless, of course they’re still in beta, which I then knock on their “invite only” door until someone opens up, so I can jump on the early adopter bandwagon. Actually, I usually only have to say “I’m from Sociosophy” and they totally know that if they let me in, they score like 9000+ Internets. (more…)
