Sociosophy News

Here’s what’s shakin at Sociosophy.

  1. sociosophyAdded: Featured Article Widget, this little home-grown puppy is going to feature our favorite or most popular posts. To date, the 3 that are up there are the most popular posts we’ve created this year.
  2. Updated: The Random Post feature that was “broken” since we launched theme 2.0 is finally fixed! We never click on it either, apparently, and never knew it didn’t work. Whee!
  3. Updated: The Right Sidebar has a smooth new mootools accordion script installed as we’re planning on adding more stuff to it.
  4. By we, I mean me.

There’s a chance that I’ll be adding a new author or two to Sociosophy real soon. I’m changing the format a little to not only include reviews of sites I find, but also to include editorial articles much like the favorited Friendfeed vs. Facebook post written by San Diego’s very own Chris Rodgers.

Oh! I’m also going to be highlighting an All-Star LA blogger in a bit, so keep an eye out.

This Week in the Webosphere 1

I’m going to preface this video with a short review. YouTube’s compression techniques are HORRIBLE. Unless you’re willing to wait for a 1.5GB file to upload, you’re stuck hopelessly fighting the interlaced machine. It’s no wonder Aten Syndicate switched to Vimeo for client videos, if they tried to show’m their stuff on YouTube, they’d get laughed at.

Alas, YouTube’s not for that, we know, but – Integrity? Sociosophy’s switching to Vimeo as well for in-post videos. We’ll still put’m on YouTube, but still. Wow – this is ick.

Sociosophy New(s)

Sociosophy has officially been awarded all sorts of awesome! We’re happy, and you should be too. What’s in store for Sociosophy going forward? Here’s a glimpse:

  1. More updates: One of the things we’re proud to announce is that our catalog of over 4,000 Web 2.0 sites, and nearly twice that in blogs are going to all be reviewed! So, aside from porn and news sites, we’re going to review the entire Internet.
  2. Site ratings: In case you missed them, all the sites are now rated, and ratable (upper right of each post). We rate each site we review the moment we review the site based on our take of the site (usefulness, uniqueness, ease of use, aesthetics). Even better, you’re welcome to rate right along with us. Ratings are open to all Sociosophers.
  3. Advertising options: Yes, we have ad-space. Something we never really had before it was just “me” and now that we’re “we”; well, there’s a model behind the blog. Support Sociosophy by becoming a sponsor or advertiser today.
  4. Better RSS feed output for all you Google Reader addicts out there.
  5. We are now on Twitter (follow us)
  6. New Polls
  7. Related posts

Tons of other stuff is on the way. Please keep in mind, we do reviews of virtually everything we come across that’s new and exciting on the Internet – so if you have something, let us know about it. While you’re here, you should also check out Social Media news at our friend Pete’s site, Mashable.com, cheers mates!

Sociosophy Stuff

Here’s a little touch-base nothing news about Sociosophy. Since I’ve started this blog, I’ve written on over 50 Web 2.0 sites, found some awesome stuff, found some not so awesome stuff…

But, it’s time for a little viewer feedback. What works? What doesn’t? What would you like to see? What’s lame? Just a quick bit of constructive criticism will go a long way… as I’m pretty open to changing stuff and fielding suggestions. Gimme, gimme some of your stuff via comments, contact, or catch me on Meebo, good times.

Here’s how Sociosophy is doing so far:

Start, October 8th, 2007
Unique Visitors: 1670
Page Views per Visit: 2.96
Avg Time on Site: 3:18

So, really, honestly? Thank you to everyone that reads Sociosophy, and really reads it. The Internet and it’s fun toys are not only part of this blog, but they’re also part of my living, and I love the web with all of it’s goodness… So, thank you for taking part in the exploration of it’s 2.0 with me, and feedback rules.

Cheers,
Enrique Gutierrez, Author

Sociosophy Updates

Sociosophy is growing, changing… and evolving. Soon it will be a 100 foot tall lizard with a craving for hairless sheep and kittens covered in pasta sauce! Until then, here are the fancy new stuffs that I’ve recently added, and why.

After just 20 days of being alive, I’ve began to lose track of what I reviewed, where I’ve signed up… Oh, Nelly! So… I’ve made a shopping list:

Review Index (aka Sociosophy’s new 404 page)

The Review Index is the comprehensive list of all things Sociosophized… errr reviewed. It’s chronological, and will probably be expanded, but only after I make it into a WordPress plug-in.

Also, in case you want to get a hold of me, for whatever reason:

That’s right, a CONTACT FORM! I know, I know… I’m too kind.
