Germany-based Hobnox is a niche-market social network site that includes some incrediby unique features that I’ve never seen before, and honestly, I’m glad I hadn’t until I saw them here. Hobnox is a music, film & culture centric site, it’s members should at least be interested in, or want to take part in any one of those things.
One of the cornerstone features of the site is the Audiotool. If you’ve ever worked with an 808 or digital sequencer, you NEED TO TRY THIS. It’s absolutely remarkable. In fact, it’s like having the instruments right on your desk, only on a screen instead of sitting around collecting dust.

Hobnox even went as far as to allow you to customize your set up with modular effects boxes, plugging in and reorganizing your cabling setup, and every single effect, switch, knob, leveler, control lever… works. It’s insanely well done. They need an award for just that portion of their site alone, seriously. Read more »
Amazing what a little mobile compliance will do to a seemingly simple service. My Name is E is an online “this is what I log into” business card creator, of sorts. The site itself is built pretty slick, giving you a bunch of great options and services to select.
You can upload a custom background image, create multiple cards, make one “public” (the one that’s attached to your username in the URL), and the real fun happens when you launch their mobile or iPhone version.
Ok, this is just sweet. I’m a HUGE fan of “now”, in fact, I like “now” so much that I have a hard time paying attention to the last post I wrote 10 minutes ago. Yaubais an advocate of now with the first (that I’ve seen) effective, flawless, REAL TIME search engine. It leverages blog search, micro-blog search, social media search, and image search to provide you with results in a clean interface, and is very well done as a whole.
I’m a fan. This is getting added to my Firefox search bar, in fact, I’d have to say Yauba is now my #1 choice for finding things that are growing trends, and perhaps even for searching events that are happening “now” that I am unable to attend. I’m keeping this post short, because you just need to try it. Serioulsy. GO. NOW.
I have a small, probably absurd, but reasonable prediction.
It is possible for a search engine to know too much; and by too much, I mean, “The Google”. I use it every day for everything, but when it comes to finding local businesses? I usually go to Google Maps first, but lately it’s been Yelp, because I end up there anyway. Same thing for movie information, IMDB directly, instead of Google. Google’s great for information digging and burrowing, but when it comes to searching for things you already know there are sites for, I believe that niche market search engines and sites are going to be a big part of how it’s all done.
Now, I’m not saying there will be a Puppies Search Engine and a Balloon Animal Search Engine, but Yelp, IMDB, and the sort make sense of their existance because they’re loaded with info and more narrow in terms of what you can search for. So, Smeepe makes sense, kind of. Read more »
Ah, the world of the Internets and making money in it. Commerce has been the life and death of many companies on the web for the past decade, easily. The first dot com bubble was so big and awesome that geeks got to work while sitting on love sacks, listening to live sax, coding in a state of … relax. I made a poem!
Anywhat, BuyItSellIt has got to be one of the simplest interfaces I’ve ever seen for making green-backs on the web. Small businesses and bead shops from around the globe should rejoice in awe at how simple they made this for everyone.
This white-labeled eCommerce solution is full featured filled with fantastic fun for the whole family. Stats, product management, super simple implementation, clean execution… I’m not talking some clunky “look at me! look at me!” Cafe Press crap, this is a real deal for all you aspiring online entrepreneurs looking to turn your “whatever” into products, self hosted, not relying on E-Bay’s wonderfully massive (sporadic) customer/user base to get you monies.
I’m gonna use it on a site for Genevieve Chappell here in a few days. So that’ll be awesome. I’ll let you know how it goes.
